This comic book would never have come together without the support and assistance from the following folks:
Ian Shults for providing the incredible cover and use of your studio, Corey Goering for his daring and putting aside his family to produce the ads, Rory Skagen for the use of the gentrification bear, Randall and Donya for their endless support and for opening Rio Rita, one of the rare spots that maintains soul and heart. Special thanks to Victoria for being the perfect model for Dos Equis.
Matt Shults, Kristin Hogan and Dan Morrison for their help on the design and technical aspects of the project, Nathan Jensen and Cassandra for your help and allowing me to use your studio and house to finish writing the story.
Rachelle for all of your assistance, Jana, Joseph and Shea for all the help you've offered me over the years and the spirit you've brought to the artists of the East Side, Meg Stone, Phillip Trussell and Garry Kirks for inspiring me and keeping me moving, Chris Chappell, David Ohlerking, all the folks at Blue Genie Art who've been indispensable friends throughout all of my efforts.
Gen, Ursula, and Oliver for always being there, my family for putting up with all of my shenanigans, and Lisa, Michelle, Dave, Johnny, Sam, Nathan and David at Rio Rita for refreshing my spirits in so many ways.
Thanks to all of my friends who put up with my endless stories of frustration and excitement over this project the past nine months, especially Charlie C, Jesse B, Sam H, Julia P, Quin M, Evie, Marty G, Charles R, Michael Y, Adam C, Matt N, Josh and JD at Bearded Lady, Julie and Dacia, and all the models, artists and coordinators at Dr. Sketchy's. Thanks to Allen at austinist.com, John Kelso at the Statesman and Sean O'Neal at the Onion who took a flyer and wrote about this book.
And a big thank you to everyone who bought and read this book, as your support and attention to the arts in Austin makes this city a more livable, viable and lively place.
